May 2012 Beach Trip (post I)

Hey! This is Becca with a Clarke Babies update!

If you haven't already heard the story Oliver called a little over a month ago and asked to go to the beach. I couldn't say no.  Who could say no to that sweet little voice that says I love you Aunt B, or I love you too Aunt B, or I'm going to be a good boy for you Aunt B.

Anyway, we are here.  I went camping with all of them over the Memorial Day Weekend at the USACE Nashville District Salt Lick Creek Campground.  It was really nice.  Really cut off from the busy hectic city life I am use to (mean no cell service), but it was fun.  It was really hot and lucky for me and Rach and the kids Daniel had brought the biggest tent with, no joke, an A/C unit. LOL!!! American style camping as Daniel put it. LOL! I would have to agree, I'm not complaining.  I actually enjoyed it as hot as it was.

On Sunday we got up and ate breakfast and went to the "beach" at the lake.  Then Rach and the kids and I went back to the campsite, ate and the kids took a nap.  I loaded the car and we were off towards the Ohshun.

Charlie worked really hard on her ABCs for hours... foooooor hoooouuuuurrrrs.... lol.  Let's just say she should really know them by now.

Oliver told me that he was a good boy several times and once, even said Aunt B I'm going to be a good boy for you.  He even asked if I was going to be a good Aunt B. LOL!  Five hours later we stopped in Canton, North Carolina and spent the night.

When we woke on Monday, we ate and hit the road towards the Ohshun.  We stopped at McDonalds were the kids discovered that they didn't need a "Play Place" to have a good time.

Once we finally made it to the hotel Oliver helped the guys who helped us to our room push the cart and almost ran the guy over... it was funny... he said "I am sooooooo sorry!"

The picture below is like one that I took back in September when we came and stayed in a hotel that is 3 doors down from where we are now.

After unloading all of our stuff we drove to the airport and picked up Uncle Todd.  Charlie was thrilled to see him as was Ollie!

After picking up Todd we decided to go to the Hard Rock Cafe and pick up my annual pin and have some dinner.  My friend Misty got me started on collecting Hard Rock Cafe pins... hint hint hint to those that live abroad. :o)

Oliver was so excited when we returned to the hotel because we had to enter through the pool area.  I wanna go swimming I wanna go swimming... so what did we do???? We went fishing! Not! We went swimming, we had a blast!  The four swimming lessons that Ollie had before we came really paid off because he is so brave and so good and just swims and swims on his own and doesn't even freak out when his head goes under the water.  It's a bit different with Charlie, we girls don't like to get our hair wet.

We ended the day on the balcony, hanging out and watching shows then it was bath and bed time.  Charlie went to bed at 7:30.  I went to the store while Uncle Todd watched some more shows with Ollie.  When I returned at 10:30pm Ollie was still awake... he said he had to wait for me to get here so he could have a snack before bed.  He is so clever.  Always knows how to work me. LOL!

Tuesday 29 May 2012

Oliver had been up for a while because he came in and said come on it's morning time! See! and opened our curtains for us... Todd giggled.  Not having any of our own we laughed so hard at this.  I can imagine that Rachel and Daniel however, would not laugh very hard, because I'm sure it happens everyday at their house.

We had breakfast as our own little family. The usual bacon, eggs, burnt biscuits, and juice.  Well, I'm not familiar with this oven... cut me some slack.  All four of us sitting around the table laughing at one another, it was great.  I loved it and thought to myself, so this is what it's like.  So grateful that I am able to borrow them.

It was beach time after breakfast.  Let's just say Charlie is not a beach fan; not the sand; not the ocean; not the sun; none of it.  She endured it as long as she could.  I do have a few good photos of her playing and enjoying her self.  She is a huge fan of the indoor heated lazy river... such the princess. LOL!

We've already had lunch and they are napping, even Todd... to be continued...
